Today,
the Saudi Karate team opens its participation in the 17th Asian Championship
for adults and the 19th for juniors, youth and under 21 years old, hosted by
the Kazakh city of Almaty, when the junior degree competitions are played for
the (kata and fighting) competitions.
The
tournament will witness the first Saudi female participation represented by the
player Manal Al-Zayd.
The
“Akhdar Juniors” finished its preparations for the tournament in a training
camp in Riyadh that lasted for 15 days, under the leadership of Mounir Afkir,
coach of the national team, to complete the preparations in Almaty, the host
city of the tournament.
Al-Akhdar
continues its participation in the championship, on Sunday and Monday, with
youth competitions, and ends on Tuesday with Olympic and first competitions.
For his
part, Dr. Musharraf Al-Shehri, President of the Saudi Karate Federation, met
with all the players and asked them to redouble their efforts and give in order
to achieve advanced positions and compete for championship medals.
