The
Neighborhood Teams League returns to 15 regions in the Kingdom during 2022, and
thousands of players are expected to participate
The
Saudi Sports for All Federation announced the return of the Neighborhood
Football League to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia next year, by launching the
third edition of the largest community football league in the Kingdom.
The
league will be launched in 15 regions within the Kingdom, providing the opportunity
for amateur football players from the age of 18 and over to compete in
football, in addition to launching a special league for players aged 35 years
and over. The third edition of the Neighborhood League League comes under the
auspices of the Saudi Federation after the league was launched in 2017, where
the previous two editions of the championship for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019
seasons achieved great success.
In the
second edition of the Community Football League, more than 16,400 players
representing more than 575 teams participated. The qualifying system for the
league at that time included the group stage, the losing team’s exit stage, and
then the local champions competed in the tournament at the level of the
Kingdom.
It is
worth noting that the Neighborhood Football Association is the umbrella that
supervises the amateur teams and football centers in continuation of the
efforts of the Saudi Sports for All Federation in supporting the Neighborhood
Football League by ensuring that the largest football league in the Middle East
and North Africa continues to grow through inclusiveness and expansion, and
that all cities across the Kingdom are aware and participate in the fitness
initiative.
The
Saudi Sports for All Federation is working to increase the proportion of people
in the Kingdom who practice sports regularly to 40% by 2030, in accordance with
the goals of the “Quality of Life” program within Vision 2030.
