The
organizers of the Saudi Dakar Rally 2022 AD announced the modification of the
finish line for the second stage, which starts on Monday, due to the weather
conditions in the Artawiyah region, on Sunday.
The
strong winds and heavy rain forced the rally organizers to change the location
of the overnight camp "Bifuak" from Artawia to Qaisumah, to avoid the
difficulties of weather conditions.
The
rally’s participants will start on Monday from the city of Hail to Artawiyah,
and from there to the overnight camp in Qaisumah, with the same race distance
announced before to complete the second stage of the rally, and the
participants will receive assistance from the crews during this stage, which
means that the marathon stage is not counted.
The
first stage of the Saudi Dakar Rally 2022 was launched from the city of Hail,
and resulted in the victory of Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah, driver of the Toyota
team, in first place, while French Sebastien Loeb, driver of the BRX team, came
second, by 12 minutes and 44 seconds.
More
than 650 participants in the six categories of the rally are participating in
the rally, hosted by Saudi Arabia for the third time in a row.
