In the presence of His Excellency the Deputy Minister
of Sports Badr bin Abdulrahman Al-Qadi, Real Madrid won the Spanish Super Cup
for the twelfth time in its history, after defeating Athletic Bilbao with two
goals for free, in the final match that was held at King Fahd Stadium, in the
tournament hosted by the Saudi capital. Riyadh during the period from January
12 to 16, 2022 AD, and saw the participation of four Spanish teams: Real
Madrid, Barcelona, Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid.
Real Madrid had managed to advance with its first goal
in the 38th minute through Luka Modric, and 7 minutes after the start of the
second half, the French Karim Benzema added the second goal from a penalty
kick, while the 88th minute witnessed a missed penalty kick for Bilbao, after
Raul Garcia failed in Recorded, to end the meeting crowning Real Madrid with
the title.
The Kingdom's hosting of this major football event
comes as a continuation of the Kingdom's hosting of the largest and most
important various international sporting events, in light of the unlimited
support that the sports sector finds from the wise leadership, and in
implementation of the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and within the
initiatives of the "Quality of Life" program.
