Today, Abdi makes history
The Saudi player, Faiq Abdi, completed his training in
preparation for his historic participation, today, starting at 5:00 AM KSA, in
the Giant Slalom alpine skiing competition within the Alpine Skiing
competitions of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. As the first Saudi and Gulf
player to participate in the Winter Olympics since its inception in the first edition
in 1924.
Special sources revealed to Al-Riyadia that Al-Abedy
was equipped during the past eight days with Spanish coaches Daniel Sanz and
Czech Lux Bartel to intensify his training for four hours daily at the National
Center for Alpine Skiing in the Chinese city of Yanjin before entering the
competitions.
Abedi was able to write his name in golden letters in
the history of Saudi and Gulf sports, after he succeeded in qualifying for the
Olympics last December, by achieving an average of 131.03 points in the five
best races he participated in in a record period. Since his arrival in Beijing
on February 3, the Saudi Alpine Ski Team player has continued to perform his
training regularly, under the leadership of his coaches, in preparation for the
participation through which Fayq is expected to gain new Olympic experience
that contributes to building a different future for winter sports in Saudi
Arabia.
