211 female university
students in the basketball and tennis championships
More than 211 female university students will
participate in the basketball and tennis tournaments, which will start on
Wednesday at Prince Nora Bint Abdul Rahman University in Riyadh, under the
patronage of Dr. Hamad Al Al-Sheikh, Minister of Education, Chairman of the
Board of Directors of the Sports Federation of Saudi Universities.
The participation in this tournament, which will
continue until March 25, is attended by more than 182 female students
representing 13 universities in the basketball championship, and 29 female
students from 09 universities in the tennis championship.
Dr. Khaled Al-Muzaini, President of the Sports
Federation of Saudi Universities, explained that these two championships come
within the activities of the twelfth sports season of the Federation, stressing
the union's keenness to organize such quality sports to serve the nation's
girls and develop their abilities and skills in various sports, including
basketball and tennis.
Al-Muzaini expressed his thanks and appreciation to
the Minister of Education, Chairman of the Federation’s Board of Directors, for
his full support for the Federation’s programs and activities. He also extended
his thanks and appreciation to Dr. Enas Al-Issa, Director of Princess Nourah
bint Abdulrahman University, for the necessary preparation to host the two
championships.
For his part, Dr. Abdulelah Al-Silwi,
Secretary-General of the Sports Federation of Saudi Universities, praised the
support and interest of university presidents and their encouragement for female
students to participate in the two championships.
In turn, Dr. Muzna Al-Marzouqi, the Federation's
advisor and director of the Tennis Championships, confirmed the completion of
preparations for this important event, noting that teams and committees were
formed to ensure the success of the tournament.
Najla Al-Takhifi, Director of the Basketball
Tournament, expressed her happiness with this great turnout from universities
and the enthusiasm of female students to participate in all competitions of the
Universities Association, which will reflect positively on the development of
women's sports in Saudi Arabia in general and university sports in particular.
