Paris 2024 hopes
to sell 13 million tickets
The head of the Organizing Committee for the Paris
2024 Olympics explained, on Monday, that the committee hopes to sell a record
number of tickets of ten million tickets for the major sporting event, as well
as another 3.4 million tickets for the Paralympics.
The 2012 London Olympics sold fewer than nine million
tickets, of which 8.2 million were already sold, while the 1996 Atlanta
Olympics sold about 8.3 million tickets out of the 11 million that were on
sale.
"We're going to sell 13.4 million tickets. Ten
million for the Olympics and 3.4 for the Paralympics. This is an unprecedented
number of tickets," said Tony Estange, president of the Paris Olympics.
“This is our ambition. We believe that Paris 2024 will
be unique. The ticketing program accounts for a third of our revenue. So it is
really important for us to maximize this program.”
Estange added that the cheapest tickets for the
Olympics will be 24 euros ($26.53) and 15 euros for the Paralympics.
“We wanted to have a ticket program starting at 24
euros for all games. More than a million tickets will be offered at this price.
Half of the total number of tickets will be priced at less than 50 euros.
Estanjeh explained that the registration phase for
obtaining tickets will start by the end of this year.
